  • To the Beach at Marina di Vecchiano

This is a beach quite different from the other ones, with beautiful sand dunes.

It is located in the middle of a Natural Park, it belongs to the Municipality of Vecchiano and has organized portions of beach where you can rent sun umbrellas and laying chairs, as well as free beache sections. There are also some bars on the beach where you can have a snack, or even have a complete meal for lunch or dinner.

These modern and comfortable facilities are completely integrated with the natural  environment; the beaches of fine sand form a beautiful ecosystem of dunes and Mediterranean vegetation with its fragrances and bright colors that make Marina di Vecchiano the ideal destination for those who want to spend one day at the seaside.

This beach is not mentioned in the maps and is mostly known by local people.

When you arrive at the sea by car, turn right and follow the road to the end. It is possible to park along this road, where there are paid parking spaces. However, my advice is to follow the road to the end, until you reach the Duna Donda bath. Park in the guarded car park of this bath, it is safer, and from there walk to the beach. You will see that on the beach there are both organized baths where you can rent umbrellas and deck chairs, and large portions of free beach.

At the Duna Donda bath, if you want, you can go for lunch, even if you have settled on the free beach. You eat well, especially fish, at an affordable price.

Beyond the last bath, the Duna Donda, and beyond the beach to the left of the first bath, at the arrival roundabout, it is possible to access the beach with dogs.

The Beach of Marina di Vecchiano is approx. 55 km from the Agriturismo I Pitti and 60 km from the Casa Rowe B&B.

  • To the beach at Viareggio

Viareggio, the most important beach in the Tuscan Riviera. Its area stretches for about 10 km along the seashore, including the district of Torre del Lago. It began as a small fishing village on the banks of the canal Burlamacca which, with its harbours and port of considerable commercial and tourist importance, divides the town into two parts. The beach of fine sand in over 100 metres wide is equipped with an important complex of beach establishments where you can rent parasols and deck chairs. Two straight avenues divided by gardens strectch behind the beach and the one close to the sea contains all places of amusements such as cinemas, theatres, cafés and shops of all kinds. The jetty is a walk stretching over 1 km out the open sea and from which besides may be seen a view of the town, wonderful panorama of the Apuan Alps which frame the coastline. The town has two large pinewoods one being right inside the resort, is equipped as a public park and it is known as the western pinewood. The other one stretches eastern of the harbour to Torre del Lago and it's still in its natural state, with lush vegetation and dense undergrowth. Running straight through it, there is a beautiful avenue of lime trees; it is bordered by a very fine beach. Of particular interest is a visit to the naval Shipyards where boats of all sizes an types have been built for many years. There is a yacht harbour where boats, cruisers and yachts can be hired.

Viareggio is also the capital of the Carnival of Italy. It was born at the end of the 19th century an now it has a great tradition, unique with its animated huge floats of papiermaché which parade on the sea promenade and with a program of all kinds of entertainment unparalleled in Italy.

Near the dock there is a portion of free beach.

Otherwise, after the dock, towards the south, there is a wild stretch of free beach called "la Leciona" which extends up to Torre del Lago.

If you spend a day in Viareggio, in addition to a day at the beach, you can take a nice walk along the seafront, where there are numerous shops, ice cream  shops, bars or spend a few pleasant hours in the shade of the beautiful pine park.

It is at approx 55 km from the Agriturismo I Pitti, and at 60 km from the Casa Rowe B&B.

  • Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi is a beautiful seaside town located on the Versilia coast, in the province of Lucca. The place is known all over the world for its fine sandy beach and for the relaxed and luxurious atmosphere that can be found there.

The town takes its name from the Carrara marble quarries, from which blocks of white marble were produced for the construction of buildings such as the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Milan Cathedral, and the Opera House in Sydney.

Fortifications were built here in the 18th century to protect the coast from pirates, and during the 19th century, it became a popular destination for wealthy aristocrats, artists, intellectuals, and celebrities who came here to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, and to enjoy the beautiful beaches, clean air, and mild climate.

Among its most famous visitors were the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio and the writer Ernest Hemingway.

Forte dei Marmi is also the ideal place for lovers of high society life and luxury shopping. Its streets, including Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, are full of boutiques, high fashion shops, and starred restaurants that attract many tourists from all over the world.

Furthermore, Forte dei Marmi is known for its nightlife

Let's go back in time to discover why this place is so famous, with the names of bars like Caffè Morin, Caffè Principe, Caffè Roma, Caffè Milano, Bagno Piero, but especially Capannina di Franceschi (the first place of its kind to open in Italy in 1929) and La Bussola, an icon of night-time entertainment where some of the most famous names on the international music scene have played.
Still today there are excellent nightclubs and trendy beach clubs where you can dance until dawn in an exclusive and fun environment.
