  • Montecatini Golf Club

Immersed in the Tuscan countryside, the Montecatini Golf Club is an 18 hole golf course that perfectly respects the hilly countryside and retaines its natural beauty.

The player is faced with a gracious golf course where the natural obstacles such as lakes, streams, forests and ditches beautifully form a part of the natural contours of the land and therefore of the golf course itself.

These characteristics give rise to amusing shots for the golfer who due to many dog legs plays on a superb challenging course. Perfectly respecting the natural characteristics of the land the greens are very fast and are also hilly which put the best golfer’s skills to the test.

Montecatini Golf Club is approx. 15 Km from the Agriturismo I Pitti and 23 km from Casa Rowe B&B. To reach it you need a car.

  • Monsummano Terme - Climbing on the cliff

For sport climbing enthusiasts, near the Agriturismo I Pitti (approx. 5 km) there are several walls on which to practice this adrenaline-pumping and very demanding sport.

In fact, nearby there is Monsummano, the sharp mountain that the ancients called, for this reason, Mons Summanus.

The mountain is easily identifiable because its sides were used in the past as a stone quarry, which is why it has a side, the one on which the climbs take place, completely bald, while the other sides are covered with dense vegetation, thus making it highly recognizable at any distance it is visible.

To get to the foot of the mountain, head towards Monsummano following the signs for "Grotta Giusti".

Taking the Grotta Giusti spa as a reference point, you will immediately find the signs for the path next to it which, after just a few hundred meters, takes you to the walls that can be climbed, which are still clearly visible even from a distance.

There are three walls to climb: the Paretone, or the main wall, and the two smaller ones, called “Cava Rossa” and “Cava Grigia”. Each is equipped with bolted lines, the ascent routes prepared by climbing enthusiasts in the area which, for convenience, are distinguished with imaginative names such as "Polenta with mushrooms", "Morso di ciu’o" (Donkey Bite) and "I Creditori" (The Creditors). While the “Paretone” (Big Wall) and “Cava Grigia” (Grey Quarry) have two climbing sectors, “Cava Rossa” ( Red Quarry)has even three (center, left and right).

The Monsummano crag is famous for the ease of access to the climbing site and for the large number of different routes to climb. The wall that has always been preferred by experts in this discipline is, among the three, that of Cava Rossa (Red Quarry).

It is important to remember, however, that some walls of the quarries are geologically unstable, but the practicable ones are clearly indicated, as can be seen from the number of enthusiasts who gather here every weekend, with a preference for the winter time.

  • Barberino - Lago di Bilancino (Bilancino Lake)

In the heart of Mugello, not far from Barberino where you can make a stop to visit the Barberino Designer Outlet, stands the largest artificial reservoir in Europe, created decades ago to solve flooding problems in Florence: Lake Bilancino.

Along the coast, you can find well-equipped bathing establishments and clearly marked and easily accessible free beaches.

Over time, the lake has become a point of reference for all Tuscans seeking relaxation, nature, and recreation, especially on hot days. It is easily reachable by car, the lake offers a wide range of water sports activities such as canoeing, windsurfing, or sailing.

For the lazy and siesta lovers, there are equipped beaches with sun loungers and umbrellas, just like in beach resorts.

On the northeast shore of the lake, the Gabbianello Oasis was established some time ago, a protected area of great value in terms of preserving animal and plant species. A unique environmental context.
